2016 Planète Française Monthly #2-April

Welcome to the PF Summer Camp Blog where you will find the latest and greatest monthly updates until the start of 2016 camp season. It’s April – The month of unpredictable weather.  Most of us take it in stride knowing it is just a matter of weeks for sunny sunny days to prevail.     At PF, we appreciate nice and predicable weather over the summer so that we can really soak in the most fun and diverse outdoor activities near our campuses and within the GTA.  However, living in Canada, it’s in our nature to prepare for PLAN B.  When the rain storms hit, we have set in place the perfect day to keep all campers safe, engaged, exercised and full of fun French learning. Well…we hope that we thought of everything. So, we are calling on all campers to please reach out to us and send your indoor fun ideas. We will be sure to add them into our mix.  In keeping with the weather, this is a great month to remind Parents/Guardians to follow weather reports during your child/rens camp week(s).  We recommend having a PLAN B essentials Bag nearby – including Rubber/water proof boots/shoes, rain gear, spare change of clothes and perhaps even an extra treat.  If we’re all geared up, we will always make our way outside during those muddy and post-rain days.  Especially, in our Animal Planet week (Jul 25-29).  This is often the best time to discover unlikely critters and insects as they make their way through water, wet soils and hang out in trees.   Animal Planet is an amazing week for campers to improve their French while learning all about our vibrant local ecosystem.  In addition to a fantastic art and science-based morning, we will be taking daily trek to different eco systems, including a full day at Riverdale Farm.   Please join us this summer at Planète Française. All 6 of our unique themed camp weeks have spaces still left. Our Raw Food Cooking Week -Green-Food Planet is filling up!

IT’s true! Planète Française is growing better each season because of input from you!

MORNING CAMP TRANSFER PROGRAM – We want to make the mornings hassle free! In this summer camp season, we are very happy to launch our Early BIRD Pick-ups near select neighborhood schools, especially those deemed further away from our main campus locations.  This service is the low cost of AM Extended care ($35/$28) and it includes 1 hour of pre-camp activities and care.  Please inquire if your neighborhood is part of this safe and convenient option.
ENHANCEMENTS to French Literacy – Our affordable After-Camp Reading Club now includes support for writing development.  We have a library full of options for every level and we encourage campers to bring their favorite books in as well.

SPECIAL RAW FOOD COOKING WEEK – NEAR CAPACITY!  We have very few spaces left in our Green-Food Planet.  This is a week where we are going to the next level of French learning and living clean, green and delicious.  Campers attending this camp will cook from recipes using raw food ingredients which are Tasty, Local and Green.  Plus, we will all have the privilege of meeting a Celebrity Food Network Chef, who embraces our camp philosophy of Healthy Minds = Healthy Bodies = Healthy Planet! We will end our week choosing the “TOP CHEF” PLANETE FRANCAISE, in a fun and fiercely green cook-off.  We will be running this camp at our main campus –Earl Haig Jr. P.S. on August 8-12.

Register now for all sessions and get the benefits of multi-camp and multi-sibling discount.  Each registered camper will receive a take-home draw-string Planète Française BAG – Perfect for taking along when we explore the local beaches, pools and parks.

SPECIAL GUESTS deserve special thanks – Our thanks go out to the LOCAL community who support our unique weekly themed weeks.  This month, a super big thank you goes out to Lorraine Bruce from Lorraine Bruce Yoga, www.lorrainebruceyoga.com As a passionate Children’s Yoga Instructor, she showcased introductory positions while introducing practical breathing and mediation techniques which brought such ZEN to our group last summer! We loved it! Lorraine regularly teaches yoga to children in daycares and schools across the city along with specializing in pre and postnatal yoga.
Look out for our next blog – May 2016 – we talk about CELEBRATION PLANET, Special Guests from GEORGE BROWN ART Faculty and so much more!
